KAT SHUTTE FOR
OHIO HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
DISTRICT 70
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Please send me any questions you would like answered.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO RUN FOR OFFICE?
This is the first question I am always asked. Over the last few years we have watched our freedoms stripped from us one by one. We also watched a lot of the people that we have elected to represent us do nothing to protect us. It was during a meeting with a group of citizens with our current Representative, Brian Lampton, that I made my final decision to run. About 9 of us met with him to discuss his lack of support for HB248, and to ask him to at least sign the discharge petition to allow the bill to be moved out of committee. He was very dismissive and arrogant towards us. One of the ladies with us reminded him that he represents us and if we do not feel he is representing us the way we wish to be represented then we will vote him out. He shrugged his shoulders and said, "OK". In that instant my decision was made. We need people in office, now more than ever, that are strong, bold, fearless, and willing to stand up to protect our rights granted by both the Ohio and the US Constitutions. I posses these qualities and believe I am the right person for the job.
WHAT WILL YOU DO DIFFERENT THAN OUR CURRENT REPRESENTATIVE?
One of the biggest complaints I hear about our current Representative is that he does not put the work in and the second complaint is that he is not available to his constituents. First, I will work relentlessly to assure that the people of our district have their voices heard in Columbus. I can't do that without being available to listen to everyone who has something to say. I want to be in contact as much as possible with everyone I represent. Not only do I promise to respond to any request for a meeting, every email, and every phone call, I plan on scheduling a town hall type meeting at least once a month to listen to concerns, thoughts, and opinions on all matters at hand.
DO YOU BELIEVE IN VACCINE MANDATES?
No, I do not. I do not believe that government or businesses have any right to force an experimental, emergency use drug on any citizen of the United States. No one should be limited in their ability to work and participate in society because of their personal medical decsions.
WHERE DO YOU STAND IN REGARDS TO THE 2ND AMENDMENT?
I believe our founding fathers were quite clear when they wrote "shall not be infringed". I believe that there have already been too many "infringements" to our God given right to protect ourselves and I will fight to ensure that we maintain our right to bear arms.
WHAT ARE YOUR BELIEFS ABOUT ABORTION?
I believe that life is a gift from God and that life begins at conception. Every human being has the right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness", we do not have the right to deprive anyone to the right to life. I do not believe that abortion can be or should be labeled as women's healthcare or reproductive care.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE "BACKPACK BILL"?
I think that "Backpack Bill" is a good option for parents who want to have more control over the education their children are receiving. With the infiltration of things such as CRT and SEL in our public schools, our children are not being educated as much as indoctrinated into things that do not align with the purpose of sending our children to school to learn reading, writing, history, civics, government, arts, and many other important lessons. Parents having options for their children's education dollars will create a more competitive arena for the schools to keep those education dollars by offering the type of education that parents demand.
